Calculators and school-by-school admissions data for the 11+ in Essex and Kent, for parents in England. The Essex CSSE calculator turns a date of birth and two raw marks into the standardised score, with the formula and cohort figures CSSE publishes for that year. The Kent calculator gives an estimated range, because GL Assessment publishes no cohort figures.
- A raw 11+ mark means nothing on its own. It becomes a standardised score using figures for the whole year group, which change every year, plus the child's age on the day. An AI summary can explain what standardisation is, but it can't take a date of birth and two marks, apply the right year's published cohort figures and return the score. The school pages are the same: the score of the last place actually offered, and how many families put each school first and how many got in, are year-by-year figures for each school, not general knowledge.
- Essex CSSE score calculator: enter a date of birth and the two marks, and it works out the standardised score with the formula and cohort figures CSSE publishes for that year, adjusted for age in days. It covers 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026 entry, the years CSSE published a Standardisation Report for.
- Checked against CSSE's own published results for all 5,103 children who sat the 2026-entry test: the calculator is within 0.54 of a point of CSSE's published results anywhere in the range, and within 0.25 across the middle 90%. The check was last run against CSSE's files on 21 August 2026, and 21 of 21 checks pass. A page on the site sets out the method and the check, with eight years of CSSE cohort figures.
- Why the year matters: across those eight years (2019 to 2026 entry), the average English mark moved 10.4 marks and the average Maths mark 6.9. 35 marks in CSSE English standardised to 114.23 for 2020 entry and 100.03 for 2026 entry.
- Kent Test score calculator: an estimated range rather than a single number, because GL Assessment publishes no cohort figures. It checks the range against the Kent threshold published for that year, and holds the thresholds for 2023 to 2026 entry (an aggregate of 332 in each year).
- School pages for all 32 Kent grammar schools and the 10 Essex CSSE schools (3 of the 10 are partially selective), each with its places in Year 7, how places are allocated, last-offered scores where published, and Department for Education applications and offers figures. In 2026, for example, 400 families put The Judd School first and 168 of them were offered a place.
- A dated test of six free CSSE score tools, run on 2 September 2026: none of them publishes the cohort figures it calculates with.
- A free embeddable calculator other websites can add, with a snippet builder and colour picker.
- As of 2 Nov 2026: 42 school pages, all showing Department for Education applications and offers figures, and 51 pages in the sitemap.
- Built with Next.js (TypeScript) and hosted on Vercel, with no database and no accounts. The calculations run in the browser, so marks and dates of birth never leave the device. The calculation code is separate from the website and has automated tests, and the embeddable calculator is tested in a real browser. The site's wording about how close the CSSE calculator comes is generated from the check against CSSE's results, so it can't claim more than the check shows. Where a figure can't be known from outside the exam board, such as Kent cohort figures or an unpublished threshold, the site says so instead of filling it in.
- Tutoring11Plus is independent of CSSE, Kent County Council, the Department for Education and the schools it covers.
Data sources: CSSE (Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex) per-candidate raw and standardised score files and annual Standardisation Reports, published on its Freedom of Information page; the files hold no names, and the site publishes only aggregate figures from them. Department for Education, Primary and secondary school applications and offers, 2026-27 release (school-level file), under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Kent County Council's published Kent Test thresholds (the figures, not KCC's text). Each school's determined admission arrangements for 2027/28, linked from each school page (facts only, not reproduced text). No Google Maps data and no scraping.

Things to try
- On the CSSE calculator, enter the same date of birth with 35 in English, first for 2020 entry and then for 2026 entry, and compare the scores.
- Run the Kent calculator with practice-paper marks, then untick "practice paper" and see the range tighten.
- Open a Kent school page and find how many families put it first and how many got a place.
- On https://tutoring11plus.co.uk/embed, type a business name, pick a colour, and check the preview.
- On a phone, open a school page and scroll a wide table sideways.
